Sesame seeds - To taste To taste To discover! Preparation Switch to cook mode General Tao sauce Step 1 In a small pan, mix the sauce ingredients and bring to a boil. Simmer over low heat until the sauce thickens. Keep warm. Crispy tofu Step 2 In a large thick pan or non-stick skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Line a baking sheet with paper towels. Step 3 Meanwhile, dice the tofu and pour the egg whites and oil on top. Season with salt and pepper. Mix the tofu with the wet ingredients. Add the cornstarch and mix again. Step 4 Place one or two tofu cubes onto the warm oil. If bubbles appear around the tofu and the cooking seems to start, the oil is ready. Delicately place a portion of the tofu cubes in the oil. Gently stir with a slotted spoon. Step 5 Cook for a few minutes until the tofu is golden and crispy. Then, place the cubes onto the paper towels. Repeat these steps until all the tofu is cooked. Step 6 Once the tofu is crispy, add it to the general Tao sauce. Sprinkle green onions and sesame seeds on top. Serve immediately with jasmine rice and grilled or steamed vegetables. Like it? Share it!
