Toasted sesame oil
Garlic cloves, chopped
Fresh ginger, grated
Salt and pepper
Chicken breasts, diced
Green onions, finely chopped
In a pan, mix together all the sauce ingredients and bring to a boil. Let simmer over low heat until the sauce thickens. Keep warm.
Place the cornstarch in a bowl. Season with salt and pepper. Then, coat each chicken cube in cornstarch.
In a large non-stick pan, heat the vegetable oil and cook the chicken pieces. Lightly dab the chicken dry with a paper towel. For the best result possible, cook half the chicken at a time.
Once the chicken is crispy, add it to the General Tao sauce.
Finally, garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately with jasmine rice or rice vermicelli and stir-fried vegetables.
Cornstarch is essential to get crispy chicken! In fact, the coating roasts in oil which is what gives your chicken that beloved crunch! However, you could also use white flour if you don’t have cornstarch on hand.
